What is skilled nursing?

Skilled nursing delivers the most complete, around-the-clock care available outside of the hospital. This intermediate level of care is designed to aid you or your loved one in reaching an optimal level of recovery, with the goal of regaining as much independence as possible to return home. With physical, occupational, and speech therapists on-site, along with skilled nursing providers, your treatment is tailored to address your individual needs, whether you require long or short-term care, are recovering from an injury, or are suffering from serious or persistent health conditions. In addition to these specialized services, treatment available at a skilled nursing community may also include IV administration and management, wound care, and education on medication or disease management.

How do I find out what my insurance will cover?

We are always here to help, whether your questions involve the care you or your loved one will receive in one of our compassionate communities or to help give you the peace of mind of understanding your coverage and costs. Our Admissions team will verify your insurance benefits and eligibility prior to admission to and reach out to you to fully explain your coverage prior to check-in. If you would like to speak to your insurance provider directly, you can always call the member services number on your card to talk with a customer service representative who can walk you through the details of your plan.

What should I bring with me and prepare?

We treat all of our residents like family and want you to feel at home while you’re recovering. That’s why we encourage you to bring a little bit of home to our home away from home. Family photos, your favorite, cozy blanket, and small knickknacks can help make your time with us more comfortable and familiar. It’s also helpful to bring clothing that not only makes it easy to dress, but is also suitable for the activities that will be part of your recovery, such as therapy. Clothing options our residents enjoy include well-fitting shoes, pants with elastic waists, and sweaters with easy-to-use zippers. Although we do provide personal hygiene items to all of our residents, you also have the option to bring your own. If you choose this option, we just ask that you label each with your name. Additionally, it’s important to note that while we do stock a variety of pain medications to help make your transition from the hospital as comfortable as possible, we may not carry the specific medications that your doctor has ordered upon admission. Once we receive your medication list from the hospital we will send your orders to the pharmacy to be delivered shortly after admission. Because of this, we recommend making sure that you have received all of your medications from the hospital before you are discharged, so that you can bring them with you during check-in.(remove this) This helps to provide for your comfort and wellbeing from the start. Other items to bring with you include:

  • A photo ID
  • Your insurance cards
  • Any advanced directive paperwork, including Power of Attorney, and Do Not Resuscitate Order (if applicable)
*You’ll find a complete downloadable checklist of items to bring with you on this website.*

What are your visitation hours and/or restrictions?

We know how important it is to be able to spend time with your loved one whenever possible, for your peace of mind and your loved one’s recovery and happiness. That’s why our facilities are always open to visitors, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you need to talk with a member of our leadership team, we are always available and happy to meet with you during normal business hours, from 9am to 5pm, 7 days a week. (remove) add Monday-Friday. It’s important to remember that due to issues surrounding COVID-19, restriction may need to be put in place that can affect when visitors spend time in-person with their loved one. Because of this, we recommend that you contact our community directly to inquire about restrictions prior to your visit. Finally, the most important aspect of your loved one’s stay is their recovery. That’s why we do ask that you be respectful of the time they need to heal, including their scheduled therapy session with the goal of helping them regain their independence, or the time spent sleeping that helps their body in the healing process. If your loved one is in a shared room, we ask that you extend that compassion to their roommate, so that they also get the healing time they need to reach their own individual health goals.

How often is therapy provided and will I have a schedule?

Because you are unique and so is your health condition, we never take a one-size-fits-all approach to treatment. Instead, our multidisciplinary therapy team works in collaboration with your attending physician to develop an individualized plan of care to meet your specific needs and addresses your recovery goals. Our team will spend time with you either the day you check-in or the following day. In this meeting, they will evaluate your current condition, review your plan of care, and set goals and milestones for your recovery. From there, they will create a therapy schedule that works for you. You’ll have input on the time of day of your therapy session, as well as whether you prefer separate schedule for individual therapies. For example, if both occupation and physical therapy are part of your treatment plan, you may choose to have them both in the morning or the afternoon, or have one early in the day and the other later to allow you to rest between session. (I would remove this paragraph) Your wellbeing and comfort is always at the center of everything we do, and we are happy to accommodate your preferences.

What social activities are offered?

Part of what makes our communities a home away from home as our residents recover is the full calendar of social events and activities that we offer. Residents can participate in a many or as few as they choose. Just a few of the options available to enjoy include ice cream socials, game and movie nights, exercise and art classes, and bingo. We also host music performances and regular church services and our communities offer beauty salons and restaurant and café style dining areas that help our residents in living a full life. Each of our communities is also designed to include tranquil outdoor spaces for relaxation and walking areas for a resort-type feel.
