Visitation Policy

Visitation Rights for Residents and Families

At AbleHearts, we believe family makes us stronger. Please review the information on visitation to take full advantage of this special time with your loved one.

    • Visitation is allowed for all residents regardless of vaccination status. Visits should occur in the resident’s room or a designated visitation area. Specifically, in-person visitation is allowed in all of the following circumstances, unless the resident objects:

      • End-of-life situations;

      • A resident, who was living with family before being admitted to an AbleHearts location, is struggling with the change in environment and lack of in-person family support;

      • A resident is making one or more major medical decisions;

      • A resident is experiencing emotional distress or grieving the loss of a friend or family member who recently died;

      • A resident needs cueing or encouragement to eat or drink which was previously provided by a family member or caregiver; and

      • A resident who used to talk and interact with others is seldom speaking;

    • You may visit at any time and no longer need to schedule your visit. We welcome you to stay for as long as your loved one wishes and encourage you to visit between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. so we may best assist you.
    • There is no limit on the number of people who can visit at one time. However, we expect that you will respect our COVID-19 infection preventive measures during your visit. Anyone inside a AbleHearts location is encouraged to wear a well-fitting face covering or mask that covers the mouth and nose and all other personal protective equipment, as mandated by local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines. Hand hygiene, using an alcohol-based hand rub, will be performed by the resident and the visitors before and after visitation.
    • A resident may designate a visitor who is a family member, friend, guardian, or other individual as an essential caregiver. The designated essential caregiver may visit for at least two (2) hours daily in addition to any other visitors.
    • Visitors who have a positive viral test for COVID-19, symptoms of COVID-19, or currently meet the criteria for quarantine due to COVID-19, should not enter the facility. The facility will perform an infection control screening of all visitors, as well as provide counseling or education about the risk of exposure to COVID-19.
    • Residents may choose to have physical touch based on their individualized preferences and needs. However, physical distancing of at least six (6) feet is encouraged. Unvaccinated residents and their representatives should be aware of the risks of physical contact.
    • If an AbleHearts location is experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak investigation and testing, visitors will still be allowed in the facility. To ensure visitors are aware of the potential risk of entering during an outbreak investigation, visitors will be notified of an outbreak at the location. Signage will be posted at the location to alert all visitors of this risk.
    • The policies and procedures may require a visitor to agree in writing to follow the AbleHearts locations’ visitation policies and procedures. The AbleHearts location reserves the right to suspend in-person visitation of a specific visitor if the visitor violates the policies and procedures.
